The attacks on our communities and our democracy are escalating. The MAGA regime is trying to keep people from voting in order to control our elections and ensure they can cling to power, no matter what the voters want. They’re threatening to deploy ICE and federal troops to the polls in order to discourage voters, spread fear, and depress turnout, in hopes it will be enough to change the outcome of the election. But we can stop them by organizing, supporting at-risk voters, and using community power to push back against their intimidation tactics. As the 2026 midterm elections approach, we must defend the integrity of our elections and say Hands Off Our Vote.  Learn about the threats to our democracy and how strategic noncooperation can be used to defend democracy and defeat authoritarianism. The Bay has a plan and you have a role. Come to this training to get plugged in. The training is open to union members, organizers and all community members. Dinner will be provided.

Join us on zoom at 6pm Wednesday, October 14th to skill up on outreach and doorknocking to spread the Bay Get Ready pledge and beyond.  You will get trained on how to have outreach conversations and how to plan doorknocking or an outreach event so that you will leave feeling ready to go out and talk to people about the Bay's plan to respond to election sabotage and prepared to use these outreach skills for the campaigns to come.

Some press is reporting that ICE has launched "Operation Safe California," a 45-day crackdown starting in SoCal and moving north to SF. So far, the operation hasn't been verified. However, the news is starting to circulate on social media, and Governor Newsom has called it a campaign of fear. There are reports of increased ICE operations across multiple parts of California- mostly the Central Valley and Southern California, particularly in key swing districts. In advance of the midterm elections, DHS said last week that it will be focusing attention on sanctuary cities.   At this time, we are not seeing a local corresponding surge in reported immigration enforcement that reflects the large scale operation being described online. As always follow your local rapid response network to get the latest information.   We are monitoring the increased activity in various areas of California and working with local rapid response networks to communicate the latest and how you can help. What is clear is that this is the moment to spread power, not panic.  Come to this call to learn specifics about what is happening across California and get plugged in.  If you are already active in ICE watch or adopt a corner, come to this call to get the latest information and updates, as well as a refresher on best practices and new information about what to do about ICE threats at the polls. If this is completely new to you, this call will be a great first introduction on your rights, how to document ICE activity, and how to stand up for your neighbors and  communities.
